Mike Magee is a Sr. Subject Specialist in the jewelry manufacturing arts at GIA. An award-winning CAD designer, Mike has spent more than 25 years in the jewelry industry and over 15 years teaching CAD/CAM and digital jewelry design. After graduating from Cornell University, he trained as a goldsmith and ran his own custom jewelry business before joining GIA in 2013.

Today, he divides his time between teaching, leading curriculum development for GIA’s Jewelry Arts programs, and researching emerging technologies shaping the future of design and manufacturing.

Accelerating Design, Visualization, and Marketing

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how jewelry is designed, visualized, and brought to market. This presentation offers a practical overview of current AI capabilities in jewelry workflows, focusing on real applications rather than speculation. Attendees will explore how generative AI is being used for concept development, sketch-to-render translation, multiview imagery, and early technical documentation, helping teams communicate design intent more clearly and move faster in early development stages.

The session also examines AI’s expanding role in merchandising, marketing, and social media, where visual assets can now be created in parallel with product development. By leveraging AI-generated renders, variations, and lifestyle imagery, brands can accelerate content creation, test visual narratives earlier, and reduce reliance on physical samples while maintaining creative control and brand consistency.

About us

The Atlanta Jewelry Show was founded on a simple but powerful idea ...
A trade show should serve the people who make it possible.

From its earliest days, the Southern Jewelry Travelers Association, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit, set out to create a show where every decision would contribute to the shared success of jewelers, manufacturers, and sales professionals across the Southeast. It was built not as a commercial enterprise, but as a community investment in the future of the jewelry industry.
