This session demystifies the process of creating white gold stock while addressing the common defects and challenges that can lead to cracks, pits, and fabrication failures. Jason will walk through the key stages of melting 14K white gold, discussing how the metal behaves during fabrication and how heat control and metallurgical principles affect results
Through a hands-on demonstration, attendees will follow the journey from raw material through ingot creation and rolling operations while learning where common problems occur and, more importantly, why they happen. The session will explore practical techniques for minimizing defects, improving workability, and recognizing warning signs before failures occur.
Designed for bench jewelers and metalsmiths, this presentation focuses on understanding the science behind white gold processing so attendees leave with practical knowledge they can immediately apply at the bench.
